Burnout isn't a personal failure. It's what happens when a high-functioning woman has been running on empty for too long — and the tank finally hits zero. This is where we start.

You're still showing up, still delivering, still saying yes. But it costs everything you have. And there's nothing left at the end of the day.
A weekend off, a holiday, an early night — none of it touches the exhaustion. You wake up tired. You go to sleep tired. It doesn't shift.
You love what you do — or you used to. Now you feel flat about things that used to light you up. The irritability feels out of proportion. The joy has gone quiet.
You know what everyone else needs. You've forgotten what you need. When someone asks what you actually want, you feel a strange blankness.
Slowing down feels dangerous. If you stop, everything falls. You've been holding so much for so long that you don't remember what it felt like before.
Brain fog, exhaustion, low tolerance for things you used to handle easily — it might be perimenopause, burnout, or both. They often show up together and look identical.
What We Do Together
Recovery is necessary. But returning to the same systems that caused it means burnout comes back. We address both — the immediate depletion and the structural causes underneath it.
We map your current load — work, home, emotional, cognitive — and identify where the real drain is coming from. Often it's not what you think.
Before we redesign anything, we need to create enough breathing room that you can think clearly. Simple, practical changes that reduce the daily cost of showing up.
We don't shrink your life — we strip the things that are asking more of you than they should. Obligations, patterns, defaults that you inherited rather than chose.
You design a version of your life that fits you — your energy, your values, your season. With systems and support that make it sustainable.
"You come in overwhelmed and unclear. You leave with a plan, a perspective shift, and the energy to actually use it."Lianne Byrne — Low Friction Living
Who This Is For
You're a high-achieving woman who has always pushed through — and your body or mind is finally saying no
You've already crashed and you're trying to rebuild — but you don't want to rebuild the same life that broke you
You're in perimenopause or menopause and the combination of hormonal change and chronic overload has become unmanageable
You want practical, honest support — not affirmations, not generic wellness advice, not someone who tells you to take a bath
You're ready to look honestly at what's not working — and commit to changing it, not just managing it
You sense that the answer isn't doing less — it's building something fundamentally different, with less friction built in from the start

Rachel Smith
"A huge shout out to Lianne and the way she has helped guide me through many challenges — from productivity and goal setting to lifting my mood and finding energy and time for the most important thing on any list: self-care."

A Corporate Escapee Who Actually Escaped
In 2021, burnout, perimenopause, and an ADHD diagnosis arrived at the same time. I tried the retreats, the journalling, the early nights — and learned that none of it works without structural change.
In 2023 I sold everything, moved my family from Cape Town to Southeast Asia, and rebuilt from scratch. I help other women do the same work: figure out what's actually wrong, strip the friction, build something that fits.
Not theory. Experience.

Common questions
What is burnout coaching and how is it different from therapy?
Burnout coaching is forward-focused and practical. It helps you identify what is driving your depletion, remove the structural causes, and rebuild differently — not process the past. It is not therapy and does not treat mental health conditions. If you are in crisis, a GP or therapist is the right first step. Coaching works best when you are stable enough to work on your life but stuck enough to need honest, structured support to move forward.
How do I know if I am burned out or just tired?
Burnout is not tiredness that a weekend fixes. The signals are: exhaustion that persists even after rest, reduced ability to cope with demands that used to feel manageable, emotional detachment or cynicism, difficulty concentrating, and physical symptoms with no other explanation. If you have been pushing through for months or years and rest does not touch the depletion — that is burnout.
Can burnout coaching help with perimenopause as well?
Yes — and this combination is exactly what this coaching specialises in. Burnout and perimenopause arrive simultaneously for many women in their 40s and they amplify each other in specific ways. Standard burnout recovery advice was not designed for this combination. If this is your situation, it is addressed directly — not as a side note. You can also read more in the Burnout & Perimenopause Guide.
What does a session actually look like?
60 minutes via video call, fortnightly or monthly. The first session focuses on understanding what is actually driving your depletion — which is often different from what you think. Subsequent sessions build on that: stabilising your nervous system, identifying and removing structural friction, designing something different. You receive session notes after each call and have access between sessions for questions and accountability.
How long does the programme take and what does it cost?
6 sessions over approximately 3 to 6 months. Investment is discussed on your free 30-minute discovery call — no obligation, no pressure. The discovery call is also how we both assess whether this is the right fit before committing to anything.
Do you work with clients outside the UK?
Yes — all sessions are online and Lianne works with clients worldwide. She is currently based in Guatemala and has worked with clients across the UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, Canada, and the US.
How is what I share in sessions kept confidential?
Everything shared in our sessions is confidential. I do not discuss client work with anyone outside the coaching relationship, and I do not share identifying details with third parties.
After each session I write notes to track what we covered, what emerged, and what you are working on between sessions. These are held securely and are for coaching purposes only — they are not shared.
Sessions are occasionally recorded, with your explicit consent, so you can revisit what was covered. You can decline recording at any time, and the session continues exactly as normal.
I may use anonymised, unidentifiable examples in writing or teaching — where there is no possibility of anyone recognising you or your situation. I will not do this without being confident the example is genuinely unidentifiable.
The one exception to confidentiality: if I have serious concern about risk of harm to you or someone else, I may need to act on that. This is a standard and rare exception in any professional helping relationship, and I would discuss it with you directly wherever possible.
